VIDEO: Choir Sings A Tribute To Nelson Mandela In The Form Of A Flash Mob

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It still surprises me how impacted I was by the death of Nelson Mandela. It has invoked within me many harsh yet beautiful moments of reflection. And in those moments of reflection, in some strange way I see myself, not as a single man, but as a man among an ocean of men and women with the all capacity of greatness. A capacity that is ready within reach should we ever decide to acknowledge it. And I believe that is the message that Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to sharing, that we are all capable of greatness, and that it is our responsibility as human beings to always reach for it, even when we are reaching alone. Because when we reach for the greatness that is our god given gift, we inspire others to do the same. And in doing so, we create a better world for everyone. Although gone, his memory and legacy will live forever in his message. R.I.P. Nelson Mandela. ~alx.O

INTERVIEW: Unreleased 2002 Kanye West Interview with MTV

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I found this to be very interesting. It crazy how everything he said he would do, he actually did. It's crazy how young he looks and acts, this is Kanye before being beat up by fame. Makes you almost want to go back and stop him from making some of the mistakes he would later make, stop him from moving California, and just try to prevent all the bad shit that happened. But that is life, and footage like this is testament to why you gotta always strive for something greater, because yes Kanye has gone through  and done some crazy shit but despite all that he will still go down in history as one the most influential people in music history, ever. And he always knew it. ~alx.O

INTERVIEW: Paxman vs Brand. Full Interview on BBC

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm not sure if I've ever spoken on here about how big a fan of Russell Brand I am, well needless to say I am a huge fan. But it isn't necessarily his comedy that I am a fan of, it's actually his intelligence that I appreciate the most. His ability to absorb the world in all its abundance and then reiterate his sharp perspective of it in a verbiage that almost feels majestic. Incredibly well spoken and equally well versed in matters of global conscientiousness, so it did not surprise me that he'd make extremely valid points in this interview. It was a great watch so I had to share it, enjoy folks. ~alx.O

NEW MUSIC: Lauryn Hill – Consumerism

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I really hope that all the people who claim that real music doesn't exist anymore, support this record and all future Lauren Hill music. She is talking about the all the things that most music heads talk about and personally I feel there should be no reason to not support this record. In my strong opinion, I think this record is fucking great but I wouldn't doubt it if the message goes over most people's heads. Yes, the song is called consumerism but the song is about so much more and I think what I love the most is that it isn't delivered in an easy to digest way. This is a song that you really have to replay at least 4-5 times and really pay attention to really get the full picture. I definitely see myself buying the album, I can't wait to hear what else Ms. Lauren Hill as to say. ~alx.O

NEW VIDEO: Pusha T Feat. Kendrick Lamar - Nosetalgia

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Although Pusha T's verse was really dope, I think Kdot fucking killed his verse.

He said:

"Could never show you the world I was in
When I was TEN
Back when 9 ounces had got you TEN
And 9 times out of TEN
Niggas don't pay atTENtion
And when theres TENsion in the air
Clips come with exTENsions"

I mean the rest of the verse is equally dope but that part stood the most for me. Kdot definitely is one the new legends in the making. ~alx.O

INTERVIEW: Kanye West sits down with Zane Lowe Pt 1

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I found this whole interview to be very insightful, not just because of who Kanye West is as an artist/producer, but also because of what he had to say about the current world we live in. The interview became less and less about "Yeezus" and more and more about the state of the world, creatively speaking. My favorite part was when he spoke on racism, classism, and self hate. That we live in a world where we are okay calling ourselves pimps and players, but are not okay with having the self-esteem to consider ourselves gods. Of course, I don't think he meant that in the religious sense but I do feel that he hit a solid point in urban culture psychology. Why are we so apprehensive to the idea of seeing ourselves in such a high regard? And are we program to behave this way, by the larger corporations as Kanye West states in this interview? The interview raises a litany of good questions and is definitely a great watch. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. ~alx.O

Already being a fan of the song, I feel like the video takes it to whole new level for me. Very well done and very entertaining. And surprisingly enough, A$AP Rocky did a pretty good job acting I think. Maybe we'll be seeing more of that in the near future. ~alx.O

NEW MUSIC: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony x Ty Dolla $ign “Everything 100″

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It feels good to see the whole group together again in a new video. The song is pretty cool, not exactly the best I've ever heard from these guys but I still like it. I can't lie tho, I started feeling a lil old when I saw how much older these guys are now. How far we've come since those "Notorious Thugs" days..lol  Anyways, I hope to hear more. I think the game needs a little bit of that Bone Thugs vibe. ~alx.O

NEW MUSIC: Papoose “First Chain” (Big Sean Diss)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm not gonna lie, Pap had some hard lines. But I finding it lil hard to completely like this one, solely because Pap's flow is so outdated. I can accept that Pap's been out the game for a minute and is trying get back, that's cool. I pull for him. But him going after newer emcee's with that tired ass flow is just not kosher. In fact, it's just plain wack. I can't fuck with it. ~alx.O

NEW MUSIC: Eddie Murphy x Snoop Lion “Red Light”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I have no idea where this came from but I don't care, I like it. The song has a great feel to it and a very potent message embedded in it's reggae groove. I'm not sure if this will be a common occurrence with Eddie Murphy but if the future music sounds like anything along these lines, I'm pretty sure I'll be posting it. Good shit Eddie ~alx.O

PERFORMANCE: Justin Timberlake at the 2013 VMA's

That Justin Timberlake performance was legendary. The whole thing was so uber reminiscent of Michael Jackson, it's nuts. In fact, his whole career is so reminiscent of M.J. From the being in a group to flying solo and then to captivating entire audience with a spectacular reunion on stage. He definitely is the most iconic performer of our time and I think it is so beyond fitting that he win the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Truly inspiring. ~alx.O

NEW MUSIC: Big Sean - Control (ft. Kendrick Lamar) & Jay Electronica ::::This is the record where KDot throws jabs at Drake, J.Cole, and more::::

I heard all the commotion about Kdot's verse and before I go into that I just want to state firmly that Big Sean killed his verse. Probably one of the hardest verses yet from the homie BigSean.

So the KDot verse. The arguments here are, Did Kendick Lamar have the right, being that he's relatively newer than the guys he named, to claim king of New York? and did he diss those rappers he named?

Personally, I don't think he dissed anyone. In fact, the only thing I think he did was challenge EVERYONE. Which in my opinion is awesome. HipHop needs that competition. It makes for great music and creates even greater moments in history. I'm all for it. I'm a fan of everyone he named and of Ddot himself, this can only make hiphop stronger. ~alx.O

Below are the Lyrics to KDots verse
Courtesy of www.hngn.com

I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who's the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y'all
New niggas just new ni***s, don't get involved
I'm usually homeboys with the same ni***s I'm rhymin' wit
But this is hip hop and them ni***s should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you ni***s
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you ni***s
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you ni***s
What is competition? I'm tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You better off tryna skydive
Out the exit window of 5 G5's with 5 grand
With your granddad as the pilot he drunk as f**k tryna land
With the hand full of arthritis and popping prosthetic leg
Bumpin Pac in the cockpit so the s**t that pops in his head
Is an option of violence, someone heard the stewardess said
That your parachute is a latex condom hooked to a dread

DOCUMENTARY: Ryan Leslie presents "BLACK MOZART" (Full 25 Minute Documentary)

As both an artist and a producer, I've always appreciated the fact Ryan Leslie always finds new ways to brings you to his world whether through his studio vlogs or his daily life vlogs. So I think this documentary was the only natural next step for me. And as a fan, I enjoyed every minute. From the team staff meetings, to the nights out in Vienna, To those magic moments in the studio, and the overall satisfaction on everyones faces. "Black Mozart" might be Ryan's biggest album yet, and so far from what I heard, its really really good. I'm definitely putting it on "to watch" list ~alx.O
