J.Cole On MTV Hottest MC List

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

While down in the A, J.Cole visited DJ Drama. While discussing Born Sinner and his joint project with Kendrick Lamar, he weighed in MTV’s Hottest MC List and his exclusion.
“I don’t know, but I don’t really give a fuck.  It is what it is.  Think about it, from what they say, it’s the past year, I’ve had a quiet year. I should be on there,” he said, while adding, “I don’t give a fuck, DJ Drama.  They’re fucking dead, and I’m gonna kill them. We shouldn’t talk about this anymore.  They want this.  Fuck these guys. Future doesn’t even give a fuck about Kanye. They don’t even interrupt each others’ lives and they’re not competing on the same level.” ~J.Cole

[My Thoughts On This] My Hits So Sick I Got Rappers Acting Dramatic: Justin Timberlake Fires Shots At Kanye West During SNL Performance!?

Aside from the more obvious jab to Kanye West at the 2:18 minute mark. Personally I think JT's just being a man and quickly addressing kanye's rant with a jab of his own. No more to it, in my eyes. However, what I would like you to take into consideration is how again the game is racist. JT and JayZ have roughly been in the game the same amount of years and although JayZ might possibly have more money, JT has definitely sold more records than him. Look it up, JT as a solo artist plus his N'sync years versus JayZ as just a solo artist. What you'll find is that even tho Jay Z has made more albums (releasing an album every year since he started) JT still out sells him. Therefore, JT has been already, for many years now, selling out venues and doing stuff that Jay Z has only started doing now since 2009. Clearly showcasing that even tho JayZ and JT may be equals now, JayZ most definitely had to work more and do more to get there than JT did. WHY? Because only now that JayZ signed that deal with live nation has he been able to fund the kind of shows at venues that normally only go to pop and rock n roll acts. HE JUST GOT THIS. However, since JT comes from a POP background, he's had this accessibility for almost his whole career. Thus why he sells more. And in this industry he sells the most is king and no one sells more than POP and Rock N Roll. ~alx.O

[My Thoughts on this] Kanye West Goes On Another Rant Dissing Justin Timberlake's Suit & Tie, Why He Hates Business Men & The Grammy's Can Suck His D*ck!

I have always said that Kanye West is one of my biggest influences in music. And although many may have seen this and thought that this was a bad thing like "oh there he goes again, the fame got to his head again." I saw it and I thought, "Oh shit, this dude is mad." But to me mad is good. Its good cuz it means that he still cares enough to get mad. Now this could just be speculation on my part but to me what he meant by that Justin Timberlake line, wasn't exactly a diss to JT more like a diss to what JT represents to corporate side of the music industry. Again, I SAID THE CORPORATE SIDE not the artistic side or even the musical side.
I say this because, although contrary to popular belief, the music industry is still very racist, just not racist in the way you readily recognize. It's racist in the way that you can have two equally talented artist, one black and one white, have them sing the same song, and no matter how equal their performance was, the white artist would still be considered more likely to sell more units. WHY? because somewhere in the corporate world of the music industry their are people with statistics claiming that fairer skin artist do better on charts because of there ability to spread across multiple demographics. (i.e. get that POP money)
Now, is this always true for every artists? NO. There have been many case where despite what the statistics say and despite what the demographic projections are, artist transcend into that higher echelon of record sales and venue accommodations. Jay Z, Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas to name a few, but not enough to say that it's a fair game. So much so, that even after being away from music for so long and not even having a single in full rotation for a month yet, JT not only has a commercial slot to promote his album during but was also invited to perform at this past Grammy Award ceremony.  The same ceremony that nearly, except for a few awards, forgot about the R&B and hip hop genre. And thats no disrespect to JT because I am definitely a fan, but he's been out of music for a FEW YEARS not a one, a few. While Kanye won the "Best Rap Album of the year" the year before and still barely got a nod.  And that to me is why I think Kanye was mad. ~alx.O

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

To commemorate today’s anniversary, DJ Rhude is back with his mix EP and honors the late Frank White. Tracklist and download below.

Dj Rhude Quote:

"I’ve always wondered what Big would sound like rocking with some of today’s producers, which was the catalyst behind this project. I’ve taken 9 of his songs and matched them up with some of the dopest producers out now. Some noteworthy beats featured on The Notorious 9 are from Harry Fraud, No I.D., Large Professor, The Alchemist, Jahlil Beats and a few others. Along for the ride are some respected heavyweights from the industry in Datwon Thomas (Exec. Ed. Vibe Mag) Shaheem Reid (The Round Up, XXL, Shade 45), Jayson Rodriguez (The Content King, host of The BQE), Rob Markman (MTV News) and DJ Goldfinger. They all took some out time to share their thoughts on Big. Hope everyone enjoys this tribute to one of the greatest rappers to grace the mic. RIP to the late, great Frank White. Peace." – DJ Rhude
